It’s festive! Thousands attend City’s lights switch on in Langa

More than 2 000 people came out to enjoy the music and the incredible vibe at the Langa Festive Lights Switch-on. The Switch-on took place along King Langalibalele Drive and Church Street on Tuesday, December 2.

‘It was a joy to join thousands of Langa residents to celebrate the switching on of the festive lights right in the heart of Langa for the first time. Langa is a community full of history and culture, and just recently celebrated its centenary – and so it feels right that this community shines even brighter this festive season.
These festive lights are a way of honouring this place and saying: Langa, you are an important part of Cape Town. You matter to this city, and you help shape its future.

‘Our theme for this year is “United in Hope”, and that is exactly what we saw last night: neighbours, families, and young people dancing, relaxing and enjoying the show, with local artists lighting up the stage.’ said Mayor Hill-Lewis.
